He knows it is going to be difficult so he packs up his Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid kit and heads out. What Conrad quickly learns is that being a cowboy is hard, not only are there many physical dangers but there are relational dangers as well. 5. My kids, especially my five year old daughter, love books! I thought Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door looked like a cute book that both my son and daughter would enjoy. They love Zonderkidz and all their Christian books with great messages. This book is for ages 4 - 8 so I thought it would be perfect for my 5 and 6 year olds. Unfortunately, this is the first book in a long time that neither one of them really liked. After reading through it a few times and talking with them, I can understand why. [...]

    6. Just take a look at the fun on this cover! Are you ready for a few tips on how to be a cowboy? Conrad goes to his Uncle Clint's ranch expecting to learn all there is to being a cowboy. He also knows that things can get tough on a ranch so he packs his "Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kit" just in case there is a need. What Clint will learn is that there are definite rules for being a cowboy. And there is no better resource than "know-it-all" Imogene Louise. Imogene is always ready with some "sag [...]

    7. I love a good children's book. Especially one that all of my children (from 9-1) will sit down and listen to (okay, not necessarily the 1 yr. oldbut she sits for a little while). Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door is one of those books. It has bright colorful pictures that are fun to look at, and they tell half the story. The language is fun and entertaining. Some of my kids favorite parts of the story were Conrads "Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kid" and the part about not squatting with your sp [...]

    9. We hadn't read the first book, but I don't think it was necessary to have, as this book stands on it's own! It is an adorable tale perfect for kids ages 4-9. For younger kids, they will enjoy having it read to them, the older kids will enjoy reading it themselves, as Miss Grace did! For kids like Miss Grace, who addicted to band-aids and doctoring bobos, they will instantly relate to Conrad! Course Miss Grace declared Imogene was TOTALLY like her! I think it had something to do with the braids i [...]

    10. Conrad Bates is a tenderfoot but is not troubled by that at all because in all his escapades in the book, he has his Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kit! He goes to Uncle Clint’s ranch to learn how to become a cowboy. He finds out it is harder than he thought. His biggest challenge was learning to deal with Imogene Louise Lathrup…e girl next door…and she was a know-it-all!This is a hard-cover book that is beautifully written and illustrated. It shows time and again how Conrad forgave Imoge [...]

    11. When I read this book with my 8 year old, I knew from experience what was coming; Conrad had better out smart that girl next door. He began giggling looking at the front picture of Conrad being dragged by a pig. What a great way to draw children in, and the bright colors were a great add.A delightful story, and my boy loved it, and he was laughing at some of the antics to become a cowboy. He enjoyed that Conrad had that Mega Ultimate Extreme everything. He was hysterical at adding a little bit o [...]

    12. Conrad is going to stay on his uncle's ranch. He doesn't know anything about being a cowboy, but he does have a large first aid kit just in case. But Imogene the next door neighbor girl is filled with advice. Conrad learns all about being a cowboy, but sometimes it's the painful route. The illustrations are bright and cartoonish. My kids didn't really seem to get into this book. The pictures tell at least half, if not more, of the story. I'm not sure if this played a part or not. The main message [...]

    13. Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door by Denette Fretz and Gene Barretta is a wonderfully illustrated children’s book that is both a delight to read and also has key life lessons that every child should be taught. This 34 page illustrated short story delivers young readers with important biblical principals in a way that appeals to them. The predominant lesson that is depicted throughout the entire book is to forgive and love your enemies. This message is shown time and time again in a manner that [...]

    14. Conrad is spending the summer with his Uncle, but if he doesn't know all the rules of being a cowboy he'll likely need to use the first aid kit he brought along. Very cute and funny illustrations make this picture book a lot of fun.

    15. This is a fun story about a little boy who wants to become a cowboy but needs to learn all of the rules before he can! Luckily, he has someone who can teach him, even though she gets on his nerves. This story is better for slightly older readers as it is a bit long and has a lot to say.

    16. This is a feel good fun book. I love the illustrations as they really help to bring the story to life. I have children of all age ranges in my home and they all enjoyed this read. I would have liked to have read the first book Pirates on the Farm as well.
